Here’s something I caught on the Advocate this morning: Journalism teacher may lose job for printing pro-gay article. Is the problem something bureacratic like the school’s administration claims (such as prinicpal’s approval for editorial articles) or that content is inappropriate for 11 year olds? Give me a break.
That a student is willing to write an article for gay rights and that she had a faculty mentor who supported her free speech rights is commendable. That this school district in Indiana reacted this way shows that we have a long way to go on gay rights.
