Last week, I took some pictures in the San Diego Central Library, and I came across this card catalog cabinet, which is very rare. Most of the other branches in the San Diego Public Library system has phased them out, especially with modern facilities out in suburbia. Central Library, however, is still in a antiquated, late 1930′s building. Even with modern equipment here and there, there are reminder’s of the library’s past. This is definitely a beautiful reminder.

  2. Thanks! I miss them too, especially the elegance of the card catalog cabinets. We might have had to deal with their obsolescence much earlier if steampunk was a reality.

It’s a primitive database for sure. However, primitive doesn’t always mean inferior or less complicated. :)

  3. Yeah, great post, man. Great share. I love seeing old tech like this. Of course, I also love my Kindle :)

Sorry about the graffiti comments I left on a couple of your Flickr pics :)

  4. No worries about the Flickr pics. As for the Kindle, I want one, but not yet. :)
