Barbeque Sauce… m-m-m!

BBQpostcard, originally uploaded by robwilliamsdotorg.

I checked my PO box this afternoon and I received this wonderful card from Rob. It really made my day to get it. He’s also part of the Post Due collective, and we’ve both had a wonderful time making post cards. He’s the one who got me into it.

I think there’s room for Faye to be the Gold Lady. Most of her manifestations are the major divas, but there’s also room for Faye.

A few days ago, I received the very fun postcard from Chris Gregori, who was one of my partners assigned by the Swapbot. As for the other swap partner, I haven’t gotten a card from her. Ahem. I’m sure it will be fun.

If you’re interested in doing the postcard swap, you can go to Post Due dot Com. If you’re interested in getting postcards from me, e-mail me at shindotv at mac dot com. You can also send postcards to me at:

Dear God, This Is Really Frakked Up!

In hearing about things in the world outside Southern California, it’s nice to know that no blowjob goes unpunished. Georgia law enforcement and courts can be counted on to go after real criminals such a teenage boy who simply had oral sex with his girlfriend, enough to sentence him to 10 years.

Genarlow Wilson was originally sentenced to 10 years for statutory rape, yet he was seventeen and his girlfriend was 15 at the time, and both parties were consenting. He has been released after serving two years. Whatever one may feel about teenagers having sex, sentencing someone to ten years in prison for consensual sex is extreme. Also, it is cruel and unusual punishment. Can you say “racially motivated?” Would a white heterosexual teenager have been given the same treatment as Wilson?

What A Week!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, this week’s hardly been a holiday. While my neighborhood has been spared from the fires, it was not risk free. Most San Diego neighborhoods are built on top of hills, and the hillsides (suburban and rural) are lined with chaparral, which is simply plenty of vegetation to catch fire. The fires were largely limited to rural areas, but densely populated areas close to them, such as Rancho Bernardo and Poway, were vulnerable and took heavy damage. There will be more stories in the news in the weeks to come as these people struggle to resume their lives and rebuild their homes. What is very unfortunate is that some of these people were still recovering from the Cedar Fires disaster, which happened four years ago.

Thanks to those who kept us in your thoughts. I would especially like to thank Brian and Danny for their responses in some of my fire related posts. There was also a Flickr user who sent me some thoughtful messages. I’m glad to know that fellow San Diego bloggers Ted and Rob are ok.

I’ve gotten word that one of the teachers out in the East County school lost her home in the fire. I’m sure we’ll hear about more friends, colleaguues, and acquaintances in this situation in weeks to come.

As for family in San Diego, I’m glad everyone’s fine. My immediate family (mother and brother) are all in central San Diego, away from the fires. My brother’s children (my niecce and nephew) live with their mother in East County, but their area is unaffected. I visited my uncle John (my paternal grandmother’s brother) and my aunt in Mira Mesa yesterday. It had been a while since I’ve seem them, but I worried about them this week, since their area had more smoke than here. I promised not to be a stranger.

As far as I know, the community colleges resume on Monday. I’ll be catching up on grading papers and doing prep work for classes. I’ve lost more or less a week’s worth of lessons, so I’ll have to exercise some flexibility with plans and deadlines.

That’s Nice…

Love ya, Perez, but I just don’t give a damn about your Britney Blackout. It’s the fires. They’ve more or less eclipsed her and the trainwreck we’ve all been following. I’m glad you’re both ok, and I’ll be more in the mood for your symbiotic relationship when things are more normal.

Some More What the Buck?

Buck has posted his first celebrity interview on his website blog. I’ll give a couple of clues. Her comment about the Pope is “Queen, please!” She makes the flight attendant nervous when he’s selling Asian Chicken salads down the aisle. At the hospital, she was once traumatized by Gwen, whose announcement is best not repeated. Oh, and her mother told her she didn’t need to use glue. She could just use rice! That was too much, but you could have guessed who she was from the first or second clue.

Watch it, it’s a lot of fun.

Now here’s the latest What the Buck?! Yes, it’s random, but the best is saved for last, showing how deliciously frakked up Buck’s humor is.
