The Librarian Wants To Kill Me

This morning, I took my super early Composition class (at the school out in the desert) to the lac classroom inside the library. In the process of bringing my punchy, but fun class into the library foyer, I think I made an enemy out of the librarian. Of course, there were my chatty students. Since this was the first time I’ve used the lab, I asked some questions about remote for the projector. She must have thought I was retarded and asked some of the dumbest questions in the world. I can live with that, as the questions must have been perfectly obvious to her (but not to me).

A couple of the young ladies in the class wanted to kick her ass for being rude to me. That makes me feel special.

Towards the end of the class, I took the class downstairs to the English Center. Some of my students were about 10 feet outside of the library’s exit, so I had to quickly round them up. Some of my students told me the librarian was not too pleased with my loud voice in trying to keep the students from wandering away, ending class early for themselves. I did have to make them aware of the English Center, which will benefit them gradewise as they get help on assignments during the semester.

Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style

After Top Chef, Bravo threw in a sneak peak at Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style. As the teasers promised, Tim Gunn and his lovely sidekick Veronica Webb borrow a few things from Clinton and Stacy, but definitely deviate from being another What Not To Wear. While cattiness is Clinton and Stacy’s thing, Tim Gunn and Veronica Webb offer urbanity when it comes to handling their clients. However, they can be as brutally honest.

The one thing Clinton and Stacy don’t do is take the makeover candidate to a fashion designer’s showroom. Tim Gunn does this in addition to setting the women loose in Macy’s.

The woman featured was a tough case and was attached to her hair. Thankfully, she had an A-list hairstylist to take it up a notch. I don’t think Nick Arrojo and his mom bob would have gone well with her.

Tim Gunn gives away a lot of goodies. Too bad I can’t be a candidate for the show.

That’s all I can give away without telling all the sordid details. I also found out the sneak peak was Episode 2. Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style premiers Thursday, September 6 at 10:00pm on Bravo.

Also, the long awaited 4th season of Project Runway isn’t too far away! Yay! Stay tuned. A sneak peak at the designers will be shown after Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style.

Akinola and Company (with focus on Company)

A friend of mine forwarded this to me. The Reverend Susan Russell comments on our lovely Anglican friends in Nigeria. It’s nice to know Akinola and Company (one mentioned here) and their American minions (the American Anglicans) are so concerned about butt sex.
——————–

Nothing like a little rabid rhetoric from Nigeria — that bastion of
Christian orthodoxy — along with your morning cup of coffee to get your
Wednesday morning going:

>From UPI:

The Anglican Bishop of Uyo, Rt. Rev. Isaac Orama, has condemned the
activities of homosexuals and lesbians, and described those engaged in them
as “insane people.” “Homosexuality and lesbianism are inhuman. Those who
practice them are insane, satanic and are not fit to live because they are
rebels to God’s purpose for man,” the bishop said.

Inhuman.

Not fit to live.

I just saw the piece on Google alerts but Fr. Jake had the story yesterday
… check him out before you email/comment that this is just one Nigerian
Nutcase who stands alone.

Inhuman.

Not fit to live.

This is what we’re up against, people. If anybody out there is deluding
themselves that this is just a “gentleman’s disagreement” about polity or
theology or hermeneutics then here’s your wake-up call:
